The Best Ever Homemade Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp flour
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 3 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or more to taste)

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sprinkle flour over oil and whisk until smooth. Cook one minute, stirring constantly. Stir in chili powder and cook for another 30 seconds.
  • Whisk in tomato paste, broth, and remaining seasonings. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings if you'd like, then it's ready to go!
